VMWare installation

Posted by: SBader on October 21, 2007 07:43 PM
Sir, Everything AOK, naturally ! As regards Fedora 7, although I'm an official resident of Canada, I'm in my home country Iran and the export regulations prevented the download. Many thanks

You can order Linux distro/application CD/DVDs from http://www.linuxbazar.com/computers-linux-c-416_32.html Saves download time and you can reuse it at different locations. Thanks.

Thank you for the business.

I just installed Ubuntu on my desktop and have no idea how to access it. I already re-booted twice thinking that the system would provide me w/ the option of which OS to run but it goes straight to Windows. How in the world do I switch to Ubuntu and/or Linux? I have a project due Monday and have no clue!!!!
ANY INFO IS TRULY TRULY APPRECIATED!

Source Code Available for Ultumix Linux.

Posted by: Justin Breithaupt on December 16, 2007 06:43 AM
You complained that the source code was not available. I have a temporary link on my www.mindblowingidea.com/Ultumix site that goes to the PCLinuxOS source code. I'm currently downloading about 20GBs of source code and after I get it downloaded to my external hard drive I will try to compress it and make a torrent for people to download it from. That should be good enough for most people. even if I sat up an FTP server it would be much slower and less stable than a torrent. I don't have enough storage space on my server so I will most likely have to buy an external hard drive for my server to store this extra info on. By the time the download finishes I should be able to afford one I hope. So now there is not a reason to complain. Also I will be uploading a video that tells users how to use Ultumix to youtube. Once this is done I will also include a copy in Ultumix Linux for people to watch. :)

That should be enough for now.

Hi Anonymous, it'd be best for everyone if you ask questions in the forums, and not here. You can try Gnomebaker, K3B, XCDRoast, etc. There are many more but these are quite popular and well documented and have dedicated user base and are actively developed. Cheers!

1. Do I have permission for writing some infos about new|or|useful Websites and Utilities
and post them them on forums?
2. If I have, where I must post them ? Just to "New to Linux" or to the related forums?
3. What's the purpose of "Linux.com Writes Forum"?
thanks

Mehrshad,

1. You can inform others about useful websites. If you find a website you think will help other Linux users, let us know.
2. You can post about these websites in the Miscellaneous Discussions forum.
3. The Linux Writer's Forum was designed for imparting writing tips. So, it only contains information on how to write and is not Linux-specific.

Dear Friend

I am using RED Hat Linux for mail server. So far I know, from securities point of view it is much more reliable than Windows 2000 Server/Windows 2003/Windows NT.Please come back with your opinion whether I am correct or wrong at your earliest. Please also mention some important points to justify your word as I have to face a seminar.

I posted a question to the new to linux forum section, but it probably goes best in misc. discussions. It is topic 2431. It's more about how to use the forums, though new users would find it helpful. Thanks. Bob

It Seems a bit harsh to keep booting a new user like this out without giving her any help at all - are you (like me) a journalist, or are you a shark? I thought the job of the journalist was to inform (and maybe even educate) Maybe you know something about this person that I don't which caused you to throw her out rather than think about her problem and spot a possible story?

Subject: software for elonex one after waiting for months my 3 elonex ones arrived, too late for back to school start.
I'm desperately trying to get some basic educational software for my disabled daughter. Basic literacy and numeracy, key stage one.
Searched Internet and as new linux user I'm lost. tried to download some linux software off sites to no avail. Can I only use, elonex software. they are not being helpful and after serveral phone calls with no return calls, I've given up with them.
Can anyone help please.
