The new version of Mandriva is out. I just booted the livecd (Mandriva One 2009 - KDE) and it seems very promising, especially for beginners. Everything works out of the box, includes propietary drivers, codecs and plugins for firefox.

By default uses the "classic" menu style (for those like me who don't like kickoff, the "vista like" menu). Also, it includes Lancelot, a menu applet that is what kickoff should have been. Plus, the new KDE4 theme is great, very nice.

Go get it at:

With these exclusive applications, nothing is easier than playing your favorite Windows games, listening to your audio files and watching videos without worrying what format they're in. As well as this additional software, you get support which lets you get the best out of your distribution. Powerpack is the all-in-one edition for all Linux users, beginners as well as advanced users.
