Manager – System Operations
In this role you will be the manager of the System Operations team. This person would be responsible for the daily system operations of our web and technology systems across the U.S. and all international sites. This would include management of our systems administration staff, working closely with our application administration team, and managing the technical aspects of running our infrastructure systems. This is a hands on position managing a systems administration team, with the expectation of growing this team as our business scales.
Major Responsibilities:
• Support and technical lead for the system administration staff including previous technical management experience.
• Work with the application operations and network operations teams to implement all project and releases on schedule.
• Architect, design, implement and support all production systems to meet company goals.
• Architect, design, implement and support all production automation and scripts to meet company goals.
• Work with the team to investigate and improve security and create best-practice architectural designs.
• Test, and implement and research new technologies to support the infrastructure architecture.
• Maintain effective working relationships with other IT Staff members, internal customers and technical staff. Maintain professional relationships with all vendors.
• Provide operational support for all of the company's datacenters.
• Manage all U.S. and international production data centers.
Required Skills:
• 10+ years experience administering Linux/UNIX systems and services in environments greater than 100 servers.
• 4+ Managing systems administration personnel.
• 7+ years designing, administering and maintaining complex multi-tiered production websites.
• Strong networking knowledge and troubleshooting skills is paramount.
• Technical knowledge of and experience with a vast number of Linux/Unix operating systems with emphasis on CentOS
• Experience supporting and understanding of fundamental technology standards such as DNS, SFTP/FTP, SMTP, LDAP, SNMP, SSL, SSH, NFS, TCP, UDP, IP, RAID, PXE, TFTP, DHCP.
• Experience supporting 3-tiered 24/7/365 high-availability website environments
• Experience with Xen and virtualization concepts and design principles.
• Application automation and database design experience.
• Excellent shell or perl scripting and automation experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to produce usable and maintainable documentation.
• Demonstrate problem solving abilities and initiative.
Preferred Requirements:
• Experience building and maintaining custom packages using package management such as RPM, dpkg or the like.
• Experience with Isilon, Cisco, F5, Foundry, Juniper hardware.
• Experience supporting multiple Linux/Unix/BSD variants (preferably RedHat, Suse, Debian, Gentoo, FreeBSD, Solaris)
• Experience with Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework methodologies and best practices.
• Experience with the Agile software development framework.
• Experience with implementing and defining the Six Sigma methodology.
